We offer a variety of programs through which students, faculty, staff, and neighborhood residents volunteer, collaborate with, and serve communities locally and globally.
Alliance of Civically Engaged Students (ACES)
The Northeastern University Alliance of Civically Engaged Students serves community partner organizations throughout Boston. ACES students commit to volunteering regularly in local organizations, where they build leadership skills and provide sustained service in their communities throughout their undergraduate careers.
Alternative Spring Break
Students and faculty spend a week serving with community-based organizations in the U.S. or abroad and exploring critical social issues.
Faculty conduct research on service-learning and community engagement, including collaborative research projects with communities.
Community Volunteers Program
Community Volunteers Program (CVP) is a brand new service opportunity that engages volunteers in weekly service with community-based organizations in neighborhoods surrounding the Boston campus. CVP offers a variety of volunteer placements that will allow you to connect your skills, passions, and interests with weekly service!
Students volunteer in Boston-area preschool classrooms to promote language, literacy, and social-emotional development.
Massachusetts Promise Fellowship
Fellows (usually recent college graduates) spend one year of paid work mentoring and tutoring Boston youth in grades 6–12.
Faculty integrate service or community engagement into their courses to meet academic and community goals.
