Alternative Breaks Program - Now Recruiting!

Community Service and Civic Engagement at Northeastern is excited to announce the launch of the 2021-2022 Alternative Breaks program! Don’t miss this great opportunity to volunteer across the country alongside a team of dedicated Northeastern students! The Alternative Breaks program serves to create immersive service and learning experiences, during which volunteers work with community organizations that address critical social issues such as affordable housing, environmental conservation, youth education, and sustainable agriculture. Through meaningful action, reflection, and education, volunteers explore new places and cultures, work with people from different communities, and build problem-solving and leadership skills for the future.

Alternative Spring Break gives volunteers the opportunity to participate in a week-long service and learning experience over Spring Break. This coming spring, we will be running 9 trips to various locations, some of which are old favorites, and others that are brand new! Take a look at this year's info packet to learn more about the trips and the program, and use this link to apply by the priority deadline, November 5! The application will remain open until November 30.

Alternative Weekends Our Alternative Weekends program is a more compact experience, running from a Friday evening through the following Sunday evening. This fall, we will have 4 Alt Weekends from November 12-14, traveling to Maine, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island, and they will focus on topics ranging from environmental conservation to food security. The info packet contains more information about each trip, so feel free to take a look before using this link to apply by the priority deadline, October 10th!
