City and Community Engagement helps connect members of the Northeastern community to residents and organizations in neighborhoods adjacent to the university’s Boston campus. These connections foster new relationships, enhance learning outcomes, and increase the understanding of issues and challenges on- and off-campus.

We work with other Northeastern departments to host interactive engagements designed to support area residents, such as a legal clinic run by law students for individuals in need of advice. We also introduce Northeastern faculty to knowledgeable local leaders, which can then lead to collaborative workshops and open dialogues with students.

The most successful collaborations are short-term, highly focused, and mutually beneficial. Our staff assists faculty with identifying local partners and speakers. We can also advise on socially- and culturally-relevant approaches to sensitive community issues as needed.
