The Mural Project
What? The Mural Project is a project led by two artists-in-residence at the MFA, muralist Rob “Problak” Gibbs and illustrator Rob Stull. These two were influenced by the exhibition, "Writing the Future: Basquiat and the Hip-Hop Generation". They created a project with several different pieces, including a community mural, a series of original drawings, a guide to some of the street art, and a documentary. The community mural is on the Madison Park High School and was created with the help of students. Stull and Gibbs together created the guide that is a publication with a map of the street art around the community mural that can be used to view the art. They hope to highlight the importance of getting youth involved in cultivating hip-hop culture and spreading beliefs through art.
